A report on what's
going on in our neighborhood - January, 2005
_________________________________________________________________________
STREET ENTRY COMPLETED
What an impressive new entry. The new brick entry was completed this past
summer. Landscaping was done by Frank
McIntyre and David Hatchell with the assistance of Forest Lake Greenhouses
(Wendy & Tim) and neighbors Clara and James Revell. Everything planted was an annual and will
need to be replaced. Frank would like to
get a group together to become responsible for this area. Maybe
a garden club?
What would you like to plant for the Spring?
You can help with either purchasing or planting--we need
both. Please contact Frank at the annual
meeting or call him at home at 629-9955.
600 RED TULIPS PLANTED
We should have a spectacular show of color at the corner
this spring. With the winter sales on, Frank was able to purchase tulip bulbs
at half price (from Lowes) and they were planted in is the strip in front of the
short brick wall near the corner. Frank
plans to make this a permanent neighborhood garden. Glenda's mailbox was moved in the process to
allow an unobstructed view of the area.
We can now do some nice welcoming gardens. This will be in addition to what we do yearly
on the corner.
OUR CONTRIBUTORS
AND BENEFACTORS
Another thank you is in order for all of you who contributed
to the project. What a difference it has
made to our neighborhood.
To keep the corner looking good all year, we are trying to
start a yearly fund to purchase
the necessary plant material. If you are interested in helping financially,
please see Frank at the annual meeting on January 18, 2005 or call him at
629-9955.
BRONZE PLAQUE ORDERED
Thanks to the generosity of one of our residents (who asked
to remain anonymous) we are able to place a beautiful bronze plaque on the
brick column on the boat ramp side of the street. Frank has ordered the sign and it should be
installed by our annual meeting date. It
will say:
|
LAKESHORE DRIVE
________
Forest Lake
South
&
Forest Lake
West
|
AN ADDITION TO THE WALL?
Frank would like to add the wording
"established 1964"
under the FOREST
LAKE name on the big
brick wall. What do you think? The cost will be $350.00 to do it in the same
cast metal letters (smaller of course).
We will have to ask for additional contributions to get this done. Frank
will be soliciting at the annual meeting.
If enough people want it and contribute, we will not have to do another
mailing.
