WEB SITE MAINTENANCE
By: Frank McIntyre, Chariperson
We've
put our association online to provide everyone with more convenience, an
opportunity to share ideas and information, get news, utilize the membership
directory and eventually be able to join the association.
Our
web site "forestlakesc.com" was created in 2000 and somewhat
forgotten since then. It was created under the auspices of Earl Atkinson, a
former FLHA President, who used Lyles Data Systems (Jerry Lyles). At some
point it was transferred (without our knowledge) to LogicSouth in Columbia. With this change and subsequent changes in FLHA Boards, it was not kept up. We
are now taking charge once again.
The current FLHA Board has resurrected the web
site and switched to someone local to host it.
We are using Clark Data
Services in Florence and getting "lessons" on how to make changes
ourselves. Frank McIntyre has agreed to be our "webmaster".
He has
started to update everything beginning with a listing of current FLHA Board
members and how to contact us. This is listed on the web site under "Contact
Us." and we will be kept current from now on. We also
plan to be adding lots of new things.
All the necessary passwords are now known and
new software purchased to allow us to make any changes ourselves. We currently
have a section titled "Photo Gallery" and will be adding lots of
pictures of life around Forest Lake. There's even an old "Fishing
Report" (which needs to be updated). We want to especially be sure to
asked for eveyone's e-mail addresses this year so we can better keep in touch.
A big effort planned for 2005 will be to begin
using the web site as a Newsletter --another means to keep in touch with
residents. Frank has asked that anyone interested in working with him on this
please contact him (629-9955 - email: franknzoe@juno.com).
Another major effort will be to get our
Membership Directory on-line. This is actually quite easy and possible right
now --however, we want to be absolutely certain that our names, addresses and
other information are kept confidential. This will be accomplished through
passwords and/or security codes. We are working with our consultant now on
this and should have accurate information for you at the annual meeting on
January 18, 2005.
We're excited about offering online service and
cosider this a valuable amenity for the community.
There are lots and lots of
ways to use the web site for helping the Board manage its affairs and
communicate more effectively with our membership. We hope you'll take
advantage of the site and we welcome your input and suggestions. Just click
